Cubicle Sewing

Question: What is a sewer to do when she has to work a day job? Well, there is the occasional perusing and purchasing of online fabric and notions and reading sewing blogs, But, how else to give in to the addiction? Answer: She brings a small sewing machine to keep at the office. My boss ACTUALLY gave me approval to do this on my lunch breaks. Yeah!!!

I started with my Singer 401A. I was working on on my first ever full bust adjustment blouse pattern. Yeah, I don't want to talk about that one......LOL! One day I'll finish it. I just got to the point that I didn't like the fabric anymore and didn't want to finish it. And there's already so many mistakes. But, I will finish it before I do another. If anything just to get the experience and make more mistakes.

Months later I brought a Brother SE425 (which incidentally is identical to my traveling Babylock Sofia 2). I've completed my daughter's monkey, except the eyes which I eventually did finish.

Now, the draw back. Coworkers keep coming to me to fix their girlfriend's jeans, or wives special pillows that the dogs chewed or to repair their clothes. And I hate to say no, but I do. I already have enough planned projects to last a year or more.
Since my travelling and office sewing machines are nearly identical, I've made a presser foot box tackle box that stays at the office unless I'm going to use my traveling machine. It's not as pretty as my Elna foot box. This is the Elna box:

It's just one of the multi-adjustable compartment boxes and the Brother P-Touch label maker. I love that label maker! On this one I cut down a little section to let the ruffler fit better.

Hello

Hello World! This is my sewing room. I've been sewing for one year and a few weeks. This hobby took hold of me like lockjaw and will not release. I'm going deeper in the rabbit hole. However, my main hobby is shopping. Mostly shopping for sewing, but I try to branch out. I have quite a few machines....and fabric. I know others have more, but they've probably been sewing for more than a couple of years.
And this is my treadle. I  just LOVE the machines as much as I love attempting to make things. The quilt block on the treadle pictured is a rail fence (?), and it's my very first block ever pieced.
And this is my fabric and pattern stash.

I have absolutely NO completed quilts yet. If I stop starting new ones, I can finish another. I know that and yet can't resist.

I am working on the following (just quilts):
  • Jenny Haskin's, Jenny's Essence (1st quilt ever, taking class to learn machine)
  • Stitcher's Garden (a year long block of the month with lot's of decorative stitching and applique)
  • The Facebook Treadle group block of the month.
  • Storm at Sea with Maggie Tinnin (American Sewing Guild)

And I have a few kits and panels and pretty fabric for others.

For apparel, let's see.....
  • A custom designed tee shirt for my step daughter.
  • Fixing hubby's hole-y tee shirts.
  • Matching flannel pajamas for my almost 4 year old, myself and her doll. (What? It's spring already?)
  • An Elsa costume for my almost 4 year old.....let's call her Victoria ('cause that's her name). Hopefully will be done in time for Halloween.
  • (more to be added as I figure it out)
Oh, and I'm a big Craftsy addict!

Are you still with me? Oh, then you must have some of the same addictions. Welcome! Let's share stories.
